Supporting the O&G workforce to deliver the highest levels of care to women and girls is a key strategic priority for the RCOG. The College is conducting a workforce census for all obstetricians and gynaecologists working in the UK.
The information you provide will help shape our work to support the O&G workforce and strengthen our advocacy work to call for additional resource in women’s healthcare.
This has never been more important in the context of significant change over the next two years, with the NHS coming back into direct government control and service transformation plans. This comes at a challenging time with service demands remaining high, and alongside financial constraints. The feedback you share through the census will support the College in representing the views and needs of our membership, as we engage and work with government partners.
What will the RCOG workforce census include?
As well as providing us with insight into the current make-up of the O&G workforce, this census gives you the opportunity to share your views and opinions on career development opportunities, the current work environment, and wellbeing in the workplace.
Why should I respond?
The information you provide will be invaluable to our work to further support the O&G workforce as well as to strengthen our workforce planning, guidance, advocacy and lobbying activities. The findings will be summarised in a published report to inform workforce planning activity now and in the future.
Who is the survey for?
All obstetricians and gynaecologists working in the UK, regardless of whether or not they hold an RCOG membership.
We would like to have input from as many O&G doctors working in the UK as possible. Please encourage your colleagues to respond by sharing the link and below material with your networks to help us build up a comprehensive picture of the workforce so that we can make a targeted difference on areas where you need the most support.
How long will it take to complete?
We appreciate how busy you are. This census should take around 10 minutes to complete.
When is the deadline for responses?
The census launched on Monday 24 March 2025, please submit your response by Friday 18 April 2025.
Will my responses be confidential?
Your responses will be kept anonymous and confidential. We are working with Enventure Research, an independent market research consultancy, to help us analyse the anonymised data received and to assist us in preparing a report on the census findings. Please be assured, all responses will be treated with the utmost confidence. Please see our privacy notice for further details.
How can I access the findings?
A report on the census findings and recommendations will be published on the RCOG website.
