The Kolkata Eden Hospital Annual Prize honours the legacy of Mr Prabhat Chattopadhyay FRCOG and his connection with Kolkata Medical College Hospital.
This prize recognises outstanding insight and analytical ability in case study submissions, celebrating excellence in obstetrics and gynaecology demonstrated by final year medical students or Foundation Year 1 (FY1) doctors in the UK and Republic of Ireland.
The Kolkata Eden Hospital is also notable because it is where the highly reputed Professor Green Armytage spent 25 years of his career. During his tenure, he designed ‘uterine haemostatic forceps’ – a surgical instrument that continues to be widely used in caesarean sections around the world.
