Women's Visiting Gynaecological Club Prize

The Women’s Visiting Gynaecological Club Prize, generously supported by the Women’s Visiting Gynaecological Club, provides financial assistance to medical students in the UK and Republic of Ireland.

The prize offers £500 to support an overseas elective in obstetrics and gynaecology, helping to broaden clinical exposure and enhance understanding of global health practices within the specialty.

Eligibility

This prize is awarded to a medical student who presents an application that best articulates the rationale and objectives for wanting to complete an overseas elective.

Assessment criteria

Applications will be assessed based on the following criteria:

  • Programme Details: Clarity and structure of the proposed elective
  • Objectives: The strength and feasibility of the stated aims
  • Benefits: The anticipated impact on the applicant’s clinical training and professional growth

Conditions        

  • The award may only be used for the purposes outlined in the original application
  • Travel must be completed within 12 months of the award being made
  • A short report should be submitted to RCOG within six weeks of a visit being completed
