The Advisory Committee on Clinical Excellence Awards (ACCEA) has been rebranded to the Advisory Committee on Clinical Impact Awards (ACCIA) and details for the 2022 awards scheme have been released.
The new National Clinical Impact Awards (NCIA) for consultants in England and Wales are designed to recognise clinicians who lead the way in the provision and improvement of patient care, demonstrating national impact by going above and beyond their roles.
The application process has changed from previous years. Applications will not be made for a specific level of award. Instead, you will simply apply for a national award, and will receive the level of award that corresponds to the score given to your application form. Please refer to the guidance for applicants for details. Please note that all applications must be submitted electronically through the NCIA website.
Applications for the 2022 round open on Wednesday 27 April 2022 and close at 5pm on Wednesday 22 June 2022.
Guidance for applicants seeking support from the RCOG
If you are applying for an NCIA award, you may wish to seek a citation and ranking from the College in support of your application.
For 2022, national nominating bodies (such as RCOG) will NOT be able to support renewal applications, so the process below is for new awards only.
To request support you will need to upload the details to the RCOG awards platform hosted by Oxford Abstracts. Please register for an account using your email address. You will be prompted to upload your NCIA application details and answer some additional questions.
The platform can be accessed from 27 April 2022:
Citations can only be provided for applications who are ranked highest by the RCOG – with a strict cap placed on the total number of citations available. Applications will be scored against the five domains specified in the ACCIA guidelines.
The deadline to apply to the RCOG Support Scheme is 5pm Wednesday 11 May 2022.
We will use the information submitted to score and rank application forms. The RCOG is committed to promoting equal opportunities. We value diversity, promote equality and challenge discrimination. We encourage and welcome applications from people of all backgrounds
This short application window is necessary to give the College judging panel enough time to assess submissions and write citations for successful applicants ahead of the final NCIA submission deadline.
The RCOG will notify applicants if their application will receive RCOG support. For those who are successful, it is your responsibility to submit your application via the ACCIA portal, as the RCOG ranking and citation can only be applied if your application has been uploaded.
Applicants should be aware that it is their responsibility and not the College’s to ensure that they complete the form on ACCIA’s website and submit it before the closing date (Wednesday 22 June 2022).
ACCIA will announce results at the end of January.
