Special considerations

Workplace Risk Assessments

In specific circumstances, such as sickness or pregnancy, it is a legal requirement for employers to provide a Workplace Risk Assessment (Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999)3. This should include an assessment from Occupational Health to discuss any adjustments to your clinical activities and workload.

If it is decided that you need to come off any on-call duties e.g. long day shifts or nights, then you should receive written confirmation of this. For specific advice regarding pregnancy, please refer to Working during pregnancy.

Out of Programme placements

An Out of Programme (OOP) placement should be planned at least three months in advance and ideally six months before is recommended. For more information regarding this process please refer to Applying for time out of programme.
