Answers to frequently asked questions about RCOG courses and events
You will need to obtain a letter on headed paper from your hospital or trust stating that they will be paying for your registration fee for the relevant course/event. The letter will need to contain the following:
- Name, address, email and telephone number of the hospital or trust that the invoice should be raised and sent to
- Purchase order number (if applicable) (ensure the official purchase order document is attached to the letter)
- Name of event/course
- Name of attendee(s) attending the event/course
- The amount the hospital or trust is to be invoiced for, according to the relevant event/course fees found on the RCOG website
Please note: An additional £10 administrative fee per attendee must be added to the fee displayed on each relevant event/course.
The letter will need to be emailed to the RCOG Events Team on events@rcog.org.uk
Please note: We cannot accept any invoice requests 6 weeks before the event due to processing time.
All invoices must be paid in full by the event date in order for the attendee(s) to attend.
If payment is not received by this date, attendee(s) will not have access to the event/course and will need to pay the outstanding registration fee before gaining access.
Alternatively, if your hospital or trust has a credit card, payment can be made via this method.
The credit card holder will need to contact the RCOG Events Team on +44 (0)20 7772 6245 and provide the following information:
- Name of event/course
- Name of attendee(s) attending the event/course
- Email address of attendee(s)
For some courses, we apply different rates according to your career stage; for example, non-members may pay a standard rate, while Fellows, Members and Trainees may receive differing levels of discount.
The fee structure for each event is set out on the individual event pages, which you can access from the events calendar.
Here is an explanation of the different rates for different career stages:
- RCOG Member rate: All Fellows and Members paying the RCOG annual subscription. Retired RCOG Fellows and Members are entitled to a 50% discount of the RCOG member rate registration fee (please state if you are retired at the time of booking).
- Trainee rate: All trainees (any specialty); Clinical Research Fellows in O&G. A limited number of free places are available for medical students at RCOG events (for further information contact the EventsTeam).
- Allied healthcare professional rate: Midwives, nurses, sonographers, etc.
- Standard rate: Non-member consultants, non-member SAS/Trust doctors, GPs, consultants outside the specialty, etc.
The fee we charge you will depend on the information we hold in our database about your membership status and career stage

Yes, VAT at 20% is applied to all registration fees.
The place of supply of admission to a course/event is determined by where the course/event takes place irrespective of where the attendee(s) is located. Course/events that take place in the UK are therefore liable for UK VAT; they are classed as services and VAT is chargeable at source.
Overseas attendee(s) must pay the VAT charged on the invoice but it may be possible to recover this amount if the fee is being paid by a business. For further detailed information see the following links:
