Knowledge Requirements for Core Curriculum | 2019

This section sets out the MRCOG Syllabus which also constitutes the Knowledge Requirements for the Core Curriculum. It should be read in conjunction with the Core Curriculum Definitive Document, which contains the overall programme of assessment, and the Background to the Curriculum Knowledge Requirements.

Knowledge Areas and Requirements

The MRCOG Syllabus encompasses 15 core Knowledge Areas (broadly equivalent to the current core curriculum modules) that link to the assessed CiPs, as shown in the table below. Each Knowledge Area starts with a description of the CiPs to which it has been mapped, followed by the summary Knowledge Requirements for each part of the Exam. These are then followed by the detailed Knowledge Requirements that underpin the Knowledge Area.

To access the Knowledge Requirements for the relevant CiPs, you should click on the Knowledge Area in the table below. So, if you want to check the Knowledge Requirements for CiP 9, you should click on Knowledge Areas Core surgical skills, Postoperative care and Early pregnancy care. These Knowledge Areas will cover aspects of CiP 9 as well as other CiPs. At present, it is not possible to disaggregate the Knowledge Requirements into CiPs – this will happen at a later date when the MRCOG will be reviewed. This means that you will have to look at each of the Knowledge Areas indicated as covering the CiP in question.
