Guidance for Special Interest Training Modules (SITMs)
This guide outlines the procedures for registering and completing SITMs, and details the process for transferring from an Advanced Training Skills Module (ATSM) to an SITM.
We encourage all applicants and educators to review the SITM curricula in addition to the SITM & SIPM regulations page for essential eligibility, approval processes, and submission protocols.

Registering for a SITM
To register for a SITM, follow these steps:
- Review the curricula for all SITMs and visit our FAQs webpage for answers to common questions.
- Contact your SITM Director to discuss your training and career objectives. The SITM Director oversees and coordinates SITM training in your region and provides localised guidance on placement opportunities.
- Download the SITM registration form:
- Obtain required approvals:
- Education supervisor(s)
- SITM Preceptor
- SITM Director
- Clinical Director (only applicable to SAS/LED/consultant/other applicants)
- Submit your form: Once the form is completed, forward a copy to specialinterest@rcog.org.uk. The RCOG special interest training team will contact you with payment instructions. After payment is received, you will gain access to the SITMs on your RCOG ePortfolio account. For further information on the fee structure, please visit the UK trainee fees webpage.
Note: RCOG does not hold a listing of SITM Preceptors across each region. Your SITM Director can provide contact details.
Completing a SITM
To complete a SITM, follow these steps:
- Download the SITM completion form:
- Obtain required approvals:
- Education supervisor(s)
- SITM Preceptor
- SITM Director
- Submit your form: Once the form is completed, forward a copy to specialinterest@rcog.org.uk. Include your course certificate if you completed a theoretical course as part of your training. After receiving all approvals and payment for the SITM, the RCOG special interest training team will issue your SITM completion certificate.

Transferring from an ATSM to a SITM
If you registered for an Advanced Training Skills Module (ATSM) before the implementation of Curriculum 2024, you may be eligible to transfer to a Special Interest Training Module (SITM).
To transfer, complete the following steps:
- Verify your eligibility:
- Check the implementation and transition guide for transfer rules.
- Ensure you have sufficient training time left to complete the SITMs.
- Seek advice from your SITM Director.
- Seek approval from your SITM Director: Once approved, download the transfer request form:
- Submit your form: Send the completed form to specialinterest@rcog.org.uk once all relevant approvals are obtained. The RCOG special interest team will process your request.
Note: All transfer requests must be submitted before August 2026.
