Overview
This information outlines the fees applied to trainees from ST1-ST7, the benefits they receive and the concessions and discounts available throughout the training programme.
It is important to note that all fees referred to are inclusive of VAT which trainees are able to claim back. For further information on claiming back VAT, please refer to the Academy of Trainees Doctors Committee tax relief statement.
ST1-ST5 fees
Trainees Register:
UK O&G trainees who hold a national training number (NTN) must join the RCOG trainees register from ST1-ST5 for an annual fee of £151. For further information and to apply online, please visit the trainees register webpage.
ST5-ST7 Fees
Special Interest Training Modules:
In the final three years of the Obstetrics and Gynaecology (O&G) training programme (ST5-ST7), trainees can pursue a combination of two SITMs or subspecialty training to achieve their Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT). The fee structure varies based on the stage at which the SITMs are commenced:
- Starting in ST5: Fees are £101.67 annually over three years (ST5-ST7).
- Starting in ST6: Fees are £151 annually over two years (ST6-ST7).
- Additional SITMs: Each additional SITM is charged at £157 upon registration.
- Special Interest Professional Modules (SIPMs): Each SIPM is charged at £157 upon registration.

Subspecialty Training
Subspecialty training can begin in ST5, with the following fee structure:
- Registration Fee: £199
- First Subspecialty Training Year Fee: £151
- Total Initial Payment: £350 at registration
The subspecialty training typically lasts 24 months. After the first year, the annual fee applies as follows:
- Second Year Fee: £151
- Third Year Fee (if needed): £151
If training extends beyond 24 months (e.g., part-time training or as an academic clinical lecturer), no further fees are required after the second or third year's payment.
Note: If the annual SITM fee was paid within six months prior to subspecialty training registration, the first subspecialty training year fee is waived.

ST6-ST7 Fees
RCOG membership
Concession Scheme
Members can apply for a concession on their annual subscription payment if they are on parental leave or find themselves in special circumstances or facing financial hardship. The concession rate is split into two tiers:
- Tier 1: Those earning below £37,500 pay 33% of the full subscription fee in the UK.
- Tier 2: Those earning between £37,500 and £50,000 pay 66% of the full subscription fee in the UK.
