Experiences of racism and discrimination among doctors in O&G not in a training programme (2024)
The RCOG is committed to addressing racism and bias experienced by the O&G workforce and the people they care for. We surveyed UK members to understand experiences of racism, bias, and discrimination across factors like gender, disability, sexual orientation, and caring responsibilities. With 45% of O&G doctors in the UK identifying as from Black, Asian, and minority ethnic backgrounds, this work is essential for promoting equal opportunity, career progression, and support within the specialty.
Levelling the playing field: RCOG differential attainment, race and racism report (2023)
This paper summarises the findings of focus groups with RCOG membership ranging in seniority and ethnic background from across the UK. It also showcases examples of targeted individual support, departmental initiatives and national strategies that are making a difference.
