Guidance

RCOG guidance support professionals to deliver high quality care

Our guidance also aims to provide consistency, fairness and inclusivity in the language used to communicate with a range of audiences.

While every effort will be made to ensure the RCOG uses additive language in newly-produced materials, there may be instances where we are unable to adhere to this, for example where original research is being referenced the College uses the language within the publication for accuracy.

We are also unable to directly change the language used in historical guidance or reports, but will endeavour to ensure the language is updated as part of standard review processes.

Please be assured that language requirements are regularly reviewed to reflect changes and emerging evidence-based reviews, and this information will be used to guide language usage in all College materials.
