Tell us about yourself and why you are attending Congress?
I am a Consultant in Fetal Medicine and Obstetrics working in Bristol, UK and I sit on the RCOG Council representing Fellows and Members in the Middle East and North Africa. It has been my pleasure to be a member of the Scientific Committee for the RCOG 2024 World Congress in Oman. The Committee is responsible for the organisation of the RCOG World Congress which takes place annually. It was certainly hard work, but was also very rewarding and has resulted in such a strong and varied scientific programme.
Why is an event like this so important?
This year’s Congress promises to not only offer very strong scientific content, but also a great opportunity to secure excellent speakers from across the Middle East and beyond. The speakers are experts in managing conditions with very different prevalence, presentations, and severities in comparison those commonly encountered in the Western World. It will certainly be a real and unique “East meet West” experience.
What is the most inspirational thing about attending Congress and what do you think you’ll gain from attending this event?
With more than 110 speakers and over 2000 attendees from more than 80 countries, it will be an amazing opportunity for networking and interaction with colleagues from all over the world. I am looking forward to gaining up to date knowledge in all Obstetrics and Gynaecology subspecialties, meeting old friends and colleagues and widening my network. Importantly, I’m looking forward to enjoying the very rich and unique Omani culture!
