The RCOG introduced the annual National Trainer of the Year and the Trainee Trainer of the Year Awards to recognise the exceptional trainers across the UK who go above and beyond to support and educate our trainees.
Nominations are submitted by each deanery, with winners and runners up being selected by the National Trainees’ Committee executive team and the RCOG Vice President for Education.
We are pleased to announce the 2024 winners, who were nominated in November 2023 and selected as winners in March 2024:
Dr Katie Johnston (Northern Ireland)
Dr Katie Johnston is the recipient of the 2024 Trainer of the Year Award. Katie was nominated by her peers due to her inspirational leadership, dedication to patient safety, and transformative contributions to medical education. She is a pioneer in reshaping the narrative for trainees in Northern Ireland, and her relentless efforts to establish a caring and supportive culture, despite numerous challenges, make her a truly deserving candidate for this prestigious recognition.
Dr Rozina Mughal (North East)
