The Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists has released this statement on the devastating earthquake that has hit Turkey and Syria:
We stand in solidarity with the people of Turkey and Syria and healthcare workers who are continuing to provide medical assistance in the most challenging circumstances.
We know after natural disasters such as this, women and girls are always disproportionally affected. We are concerned that pregnant women and their babies may not be able to access healthcare despite healthcare professionals best efforts.
Our thoughts are with all our members in these regions as well as those with loved ones in Turkey and Syria.
