How to book the DRCOG

Bookings for DRCOG exams are only open for a certain period of time.

Please check the Book an exam page for full timelines and deadlines when exam applications are open.

1. Create an RCOG account

If you already have an account with the RCOG website, you must use details for that account. Please do not create another account.

  • Please read the instructions carefully and complete the form correctly.
  • When registering with the website, please enter "Dr" under Title.
  • Your name must match the name on your degree certificate. Please enter your first name (given name) and your last name (family name) the same way.
  • When you have created your account, make a note of your RCOG College account number (6 digits), shown on your "My Account" page.

2. GMC or MCI registration

To take the DRCOG exam, you must be registered with the General Medical Council (GMC) or the Medical Council of Ireland (MCI).

Before booking the exam, you must ensure your GMC/MCI number is entered in your account under "My Details".

If your GMC or MCI number is not shown in your account details, or needs correcting, please contact us at exams@rcog.org.uk with full identifying details (such as full name, RCOG account number, date of birth, email addresses, and location addresses) so that we can confirm your identity and find your account.

Full requirements for the exam are under DRCOG Regulations.

3. Submit an Expression of Interest

Candidates interested in sitting the DRCOG exam must first complete an Expression of Interest (EOI) within the required deadline. Please see Book an exam for details on timelines and deadlines.

Your RCOG College account number is a required field when completing the EOI form. If you don’t already have an account with the RCOG, first please create an RCOG account as described above.

Only candidates who have submitted an Expression Of Interest form within the deadline will be provided with an opportunity to book onto the next exam.

4. Book a place on the DRCOG exam

Eligible candidates who have successfully submitted an Expression of Interest form will receive an email on the opening of the application window with instructions on how to book an exam place at available Pearson VUE test centres.

Read more about our move to computer-based testing.

Test centres are only available in the UK or Republic of Ireland. Please note, there are 137 Pearson VUE test centres across the UK and Republic of Ireland. However, we cannot guarantee space at all Pearson VUE test centres on any given exam date – test centre spaces will be subject to availability.
