Guidance for Special Interest Professional Modules (SIPMs)
This guide outlines the procedures for registering and completing SIPMs.
We encourage all applicants and educators to review the SIPM curricula, which includes details of the modules offered for 2024. Further, applicants should visit the SITM & SIPM regulations page for essential eligibility, approval processes, and submission protocols.

Register for a SIPM
To register for a SIPM, follow these steps:
- Review the curricula: We recommend you review the curricula for all SIPMs and visit our FAQs webpage where most questions can be answered.
- Contact your SITM Director: Discuss your training and career objectives. Your SITM Director is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the SIPM training in your region and will provide you with localised guidance on the availability of placement opportunities.
- Download the SIPM registration form:
- Obtain required approvals:
- Education supervisor
- Clinical supervisor
- SITM Director
- Clinical Director (only applicable to SAS/LED/consultant/other applicants)
- Submit your form: Once the form is completed, forward a copy to specialinterest@rcog.org.uk. The RCOG special interest training team will then contact you with further instructions on how to make payment. Once payment is received, you will gain access to the SIPM on your RCOG ePortfolio account. For further information on the fee structure, please visit the UK trainee fees webpage.
Complete a SIPM
To complete a SIPM, follow these steps:
- Download the SIPM completion form:
- Obtain required approvals:
- Education supervisor
- Clinical supervisor
- SITM Director
- Submit your form: Once the form is completed, forward a copy to specialinterest@rcog.org.uk. If you completed a theoretical course as part of your training, include your course certificate with your completion form. Provided all approvals are received and payment has been made for the SIPM, the RCOG special interest training team will then issue your completion certificate.
